Aftercare Instructions

For 36 hours after procedure: VERY IMPORTANT!

- Do not touch the healing pigmented area with your fingers, they may have bacteria on them and create an infection.

- Within the first 36 hours post treatment, you must gently wash the tattooed area with cooled boiled water or bottled water every 2-3 hours.  Blot dry with a paper towel to ensure brows are dry, then apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment (no more than half a rice grain size per brow).  Always use a clean, damp (not wet) cotton round / Q-tip / Water wipe (only brand allowed) and NOT your fingertips. To avoid cross contamination, always use separate for each brow.

- Maintain facial hygiene and apply the aftercare ointment after washing your face or having a shower.

- We want to avoid scabbing as it will/can remove the pigment from the skin. Only exception is if you have oily skin and have been directed by me to follow a different aftercare regime, aka ‘Dry Healing’.

- for Oily skin and directed by me ONLY - In this case, we will dry heal and this entails the client to rinse every 2-3 hours in first 36 hours of treatment with cooled boiled water/bottled water/water wipe.  Then apply the aftercare ointment ONLY when needed. For example, if skin feels very tight and not after each clean.

For 7-10 days following procedure:

- Wash the treated area with with cooled boiled water/bottled water/water wipe, once in the morning and once again in the evening, blot dry with a paper towel before applying a thin layer of aftercare ointment until the procedure area has healed.  If you are 'Dry Healing', then only apply ointment if and when as needed.

- Do not rub or traumatize the procedure area while it is healing, pigment may be removed along with crusting tissue.

- No make-up, tinting of lashes or brows, sun exposure, soap, sauna, steam, exercise, sweating, Jacuzzi, swimming in chlorine pools/ocean or use of products with aloe vera, AHA’s, Vit A, Retinol A or similar lightening and peeling products on treated area. Example: Lactic Acids Glycolic. (Check the labeling and read the ingredients on the back of the product you are using), as it will fade your pigment colour.

- Before bathing, gently apply a light coating of aftercare ointment on the tattooed area using a clean cotton round. Continue this regime until the procedure is completely healed.

- Use a ‘sun block’ after the procedure area has healed to prevent future fading of pigment colour. Always protect the eyebrows from the sun with SPFs (but not during the first 7-10 days).

- If you are a blood donor, you may not give blood for 1 year following your PMU treatment (as per RED CROSS).

➢ If you experience any itching, swelling, blistering, or any other complications post procedure, stop using product and call me immediately.  You may be allergic to the after care product you are using.  Mild itching is normal as the skin heals.

➢ Another measure is to try to sleep on your back so the brows are not rubbing against pillows (this is extremely difficult I know as we all have a dominant side we sleep on but I have found that this side of the brows always experiences more fading so we just want to try avoid this as much as possible).

➢ Remember all procedures must HEAL, PEAL, and FADE!  This process may take up to 14 days. Do not pull the healing flaking skin and try to allow it to come away by itself in case you pull pigment from the tattooed area.

➢ If you have any questions or concerns, please notify me immediately.

➢ If you experience anything out of the ordinary and/or need medical assistance, phone your doctor.  Please also let me know.

➢ Clients need to follow ALL After Care Instructions for good results of their procedure(s).

➢ Clients colour will look darker for the first 14 days as the procedure has blood and lymph in it.  After the area peels, the colour will be softer.  The colour will reduce anywhere from 10-20%.  If you think that pigment is too dark, please DO NOT attempt to fade it by yourself.  Be patient, first wait for 14 days until pigment fades away naturally.

➢ Clients brow size will also reduce up 15-20% once the brows heal after this 14 day period.

In the next 30 days avoid the following:

➢ Sunbathing, solarium, light therapies, chemical peels, micro needling, fruit acids, microdermabrasion and creams that contain regeneration factors.

➢ Always avoid laser treatments over the treated area (fraxel laser, IPL), because they can destroy the pigment and cause burns.

➢ Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to faster pigment fading.  Please wait 7 days after procedure to start anti-biotics.

➢ Failure to follow the above advice will result in less than desired results.

➢ Following After care instructions makes up 70% of total treatment success. Conscientiously stick and adhere to the given advice, because if you don’t, then you can lose up to 80% of brow work.  Cleaning, applying the aftercare ointment and the amount that is applied is of great significance.

➢ 'Touch up' visits should be scheduled between 6-10 weeks post procedure or else a brand new procedure is required.

➢ All Eyebrow tattoo procedures are a two step process.  Results are not determined until touch up applications are completed.  It is only then that you determine the end result.

Remember not to panick and just trust the process!
