What is Ombré / Powder brows?

What are Ombré / Powder brows?
Ombré and Powder brows have taken the world by storm.   It heals to a soft powdery natural look, giving the illusion that you have filled in your brows like you would with makeup.  This treatment differs from Microblading in that it is less traumatic to the skin, meaning, the application is done on the superficial epidermis layer of the skin, where the pigment is not cut into the skin, like in microblading, but instead pushed / stippled manually with a shading tool.  The shape of the eyebrows are calculated according to the structure of the face based on the 'golden ratio' (phi 1.618) measurement (Click on this youtube video if you want to learn more about the golden ratio).  This golden ratio is found in all things beautiful and in proportion, in nature, art and man-made structures.   This measurement will be complimentary to each individual clients' face.  It is an extremely meticulous process that takes a few hours to complete, as precision and detail work is required.  I use Browtricks Inkme pigments because they are high end premium products and formulated so that colour lasts and and keeps it’s colour integrity over time.  They are also vegan friendly and cruelty free.

Ombré brows
The Ombré technique has a light to dark effect.  Lighter colour beginning at the front of the brow and gets gradually darker towards the tail or lighter on top of the brow and darker at the bottom - whichever way you prefer really.  2 - 3 colors are used to give this gradient effect.

Powder brows
Powder brows technique uses the same colour and density of colour throughout the whole brow to give that full definition from start to tail of brow.

How long is the procedure(s)?

You will need two treatments on average. It is essential that you attend your second perfection 'touch-up' session in order to make your brows semi permanent.

1st Session (Initial) - up to 2 hours

2nd Session (Touch-up) - up to 1 hour: 6-8 weeks after initial session but no later than 10 weeks or a new treatment is unfortunately needed.

Remember that the final results are not determined until after your 2nd appointment - the Perfection Session!

A consultation and patch test is required although I will allow a waiver of this under signed consent.

How long will it last?

There are many factors that contribute to the retention of your Ombré/Powder brows

  • Skin quality / type - the oiliness of your skin and your daily routines

  • After care - plays a big role, so follow the instructions set out my me

  • Lifestyle - exposure to sun, lots of exercise etc

- Oilier skin types: 1-2 years or more

- Normal to dry skin: up to 3 years or more

Yearly or longer touch ups / colour boosts are required thereafter.

None of these factors mentioned are under the artist’s control, thus providing any guarantee for the treatment is unfortunately not possible and unrealistic.

How much does it cost?

- 2 Sessions (Initial and Touch-up):  €350

Some may require a 3rd session.

A €50 booking fee is required for the consultation and if you go ahead to book the treatment, this amount is redeemed against the overall price. Paypal, debit/credit cards and of course cash are all accepted.

Ombré/Powder colour boost:

Under 6 months €120

6-12 months €150

12-18 months €180

18+ €210

Do check this website or the Templeogue Beauty Clinic for ongoing promotions.

Can anyone get it done?

Ombré/Powder brows are amazing treatments for almost everyone, over the age of 18, no exceptions!  They can be done as natural or as dramatic as the client wants - dramatic to soft powdery effect.  Great technique for those who have previous pmu and also those with oilier skins that microblading may not be suited to.

Not everyone is a suitable candidate for this procedure however, so please refer to my ‘Microblading Suitability’ page for further information to see if you are eligible or just drop me an email with your questions and I will be happy to answer via the 'Contact & Location' page or directly at yentham.phibrows@gmail.com

What to expect during your treatment:

First hour I start by spending time measuring, designing and drawing your perfect brow shape bespoke to you, this is a collaborative process with you.  We will discuss your desired colour (usually will be matched to natural colour but this is at your discretion), brow shape and thickness etc and I will custom blend the perfect pigment for you.  Once we are happy with the above, we then start the procedure.

I will use a pre-numb before the procedure should you choose to have this and then a topical anesthetic during the procedure to help you feel comfortable for the duration of the treatment.  * Clients will find it more sensitive if treatment is performed during your monthly cycle so try to avoid appointments then if you can.  Although with the anesthetics that are used, you should not feel too much.  In fact, most clients fall alseep :)

What to expect after your treatment:
Immediately after your treatment, the skin around your brows may be slightly pink. However this will disappear in a couple of hours.  Your brows will be darker during the first few days but they will start to fade thereafter. Your brows will fade up to 30% after your first treatment and they also can reduce up to 15%-20% in thickness and will appear softer. This is perfectly normal and you should expect this to happen.  You will be given an aftercare kit and after care instructions from me with everything that you will need anyway.

After initial treatment the brows need to heal so we give 6-8 weeks for this process before it will require a perfecting 'touch-up' session. During this session, any missing hairs or tweaks to the brow shape or colour will be done and it is only after this session that the end results are determined.

Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle.  True reflection of healed colour and results can only be assessed a minimum of 6 weeks after treatment.  Please refer to the visuals here to see what to expect.

And remember, I'm always at hand to answer any concerns during this time and will stay in close contact with you with regular check-ins.  Ultimately, your brow success is mine too!
